FM26 Women’s Football – A Landmark Addition
The arrival of FM26 women’s football is the biggest step the series has taken in years.
It was originally planned for FM25 before it was cancelled, but the work kept going, and now it’s locked in for FM26.
We already know more than you might think. And with the WSL season about to kick off and an SI-backed event happening in London days later, it feels like we could be close to seeing women’s football inside Football Manager for the first time.
FM26 Women’s Football – What We Know So Far
Studio director Miles Jacobson has already lifted the lid on some of the details in recent interviews . Here’s what’s been locked in:
- Planned for FM25, arriving in FM26: the game was cancelled to make sure it launched properly, but the work hasn’t stopped.
- A huge database: more than 35,000 women’s footballers and staff have been rated for inclusion.
- Leagues in the “low double figures”: meaning a wide spread of countries are covered from day one.
- Integrated saves: you’ll be able to run men’s leagues, women’s leagues, or both side by side in the same FM universe.
- Licensing support from EAFC: despite having exclusive rights in some areas, EA carved out space for SI to include licences for women’s football too.
Why September Feels Important
The WSL Season Kicks Off on 5th September
The new WSL season begins on 5th September. If you’re going to talk about women’s football in FM26, there’s no better time to do it than when the league itself is grabbing headlines again.
The London Event – 11th September
Just a few days later, SI is co-hosting an event at SOOO London focused on “celebrating the women shaping football’s future.”
It might not be a launch event, but the timing is hard to ignore. If there’s going to be an early look, this feels like the moment.
What We Might See Next
With the basics confirmed, what comes next is all about the detail:
- Which leagues exactly make up those “low double figures.”
- How it looks in-game – player profiles and club pages.
- Feature blogs explaining unique rules, formats, or quirks of women’s competitions.
- A teaser or trailer that shows women’s football in FM for the first time.
Even one screenshot would be enough to build excitement.
Why This Reveal Matters
This isn’t just another tick box exercise.
When SI finally show women’s football in FM, it’s going to mean a lot of different things:
- For FM players: a whole new set of save ideas and tactical challenges.
- For women’s football fans: proper recognition, with detail that goes deeper than any other football game.
- For gaming as a whole: a first. No other management sim has tried to integrate women’s football at this level.
Looking Ahead
We already know women’s football is part of FM26.
We know the scale, the database, and the integration.
What we haven’t seen yet is how it actually looks inside the game.
With the WSL starting on 5th September and the SI-backed event on 11th September, the timing couldn’t be better.
Nothing is confirmed, but it feels like September could finally be the month we get to see women’s football in Football Manager.
And we couldn’t be more excited for it.
