FM26 Official Announcement

The moment we’ve been waiting years for finally arrived today.
On August 13th, Sports Interactive officially broke the silence and gave us our first FM26 teaser.

It’s short.
It’s cryptic.
It says almost nothing… and yet it says everything.

Because this is the one where women’s football arrives.

The wait has been long.
The build-up impossible to ignore.
So much has changed…
But that feeling?
It never left.
GUESS WHO’S BACK
FOOTBALL MANAGER 26
MATCH DAY FIRST LOOK
COMING SOON

It’s not much, but it’s the first official confirmation FM26 is real, it’s on the way, and it’s coming with a ‘Match Day First Look’ very soon.

What This Means for Women’s Football Fans

We already knew that FM26 would be the first in the series to fully integrate women’s football but, until now, that was just information from interviews and previews. This is our first taste of the official campaign.

While the teaser doesn’t show players, kits, or leagues yet, the “Back. Better.” phrasing feels like more than just a tagline. It hints at:

  • A new matchday experience powered by the Unity engine
  • Fresh visuals that might make women’s football matches feel more immersive than ever
  • The long-awaited playable women’s leagues, marking a historic moment for the Football Manager series

So, When Can We Expect More?

If SI Games sticks to its usual rhythm:

  • September → Full feature reveal and league announcements.
  • Late October → Early Access Beta.
  • November → Full release.

The ‘Match Day First Look’ mentioned in the teaser could arrive within weeks, giving us our first glimpse of how the Unity engine handles both men’s and women’s football on matchday.

Why This Matters for WFFM

For our community, this is bigger than just a new version of FM.

It’s the start of an entirely new way to play, scout, and tell stories in Football Manager. Whether you’re planning a long-term save with a top women’s club, or you want to take a newly promoted side from obscurity to glory, FM26 will finally make it possible.

And here on WFFM, we’ll be:

  • Breaking down women’s league as soon as they’re confirmed
  • Publishing save ideas for both big and small clubs
  • Creating beginner guides for those new to Football Manager through the women’s game
